Welcome to Overcome Anxiety & Trauma Podcast

Hello and Welcome, Brave Souls!

Thank you for tuning in to our very first episode! I’m Shay, a licensed somatic trauma therapist practicing in California, and I’m deeply honored to have you here as we begin this healing journey together. Taking the step to listen to content about anxiety and trauma recovery shows incredible courage. I want you to know that you’re not alone in this process.

As a licensed mental health professional specializing in somatic approaches to trauma and anxiety recovery, I’ve witnessed firsthand how our bodies hold the wisdom for healing—and I’m here to guide you in accessing that innate capacity for restoration and resilience.

What This Podcast Is All About

This podcast is designed for survivors, healers, and anyone touched by anxiety and trauma. It is for those who are ready to reclaim their lives through body-based healing approaches. Whether you’re just beginning to acknowledge your struggles, actively working through therapy, or supporting a loved one on their healing journey, you’ll find compassionate guidance. Each episode will include evidence-based somatic strategies and hope-filled stories.

As a somatic trauma therapist, I understand that traditional talk therapy, while valuable, often doesn’t address where trauma truly lives—in our nervous system and body. This podcast bridges that gap by offering body-mind integration techniques. These techniques honor the profound connection between our physical and emotional experiences.

Why I Started This Podcast

After years of practicing as a licensed somatic trauma therapist in California, I’ve witnessed the profound transformation that occurs when people reconnect with their body’s innate healing wisdom. Through our blog at overcomeanxietytrauma.com, we’ve built a community of readers hungry for deeper, body-based approaches to healing.

In my clinical practice, I consistently see how traditional cognitive approaches, while important, often leave survivors feeling stuck because they don’t address the somatic imprints of trauma. I realized that while our written content provides valuable insights, there’s something uniquely powerful about experiencing guided somatic practices in real-time and hearing the lived experiences of those who’ve found healing through body-based approaches.

This podcast extends my therapeutic mission beyond the walls of my California practice, offering evidence-based somatic tools and professional guidance to survivors worldwide who may not have access to specialized somatic trauma therapy.

What Makes Us Different

In a world where mental health content can sometimes feel disconnected from the body’s role in healing, we’re committed to:

  • Somatic-informed approach – Every conversation honors the nervous system and includes body-based healing strategies

  • Professional therapeutic expertise – Content grounded in my clinical experience as a licensed somatic trauma therapist

  • Body-mind integration – Addressing trauma where it lives: in the nervous system, tissues, and cellular memory

  • Practical somatic tools – Building on our blog’s foundation with body-based techniques you can practice immediately

  • Nervous system education – Understanding polyvagal theory, window of tolerance, and somatic experiencing principles

  • Authentic vulnerability – Real stories that include the somatic aspects of recovery and body-based breakthroughs

  • Evidence-based somatic practices – Combining clinical research with proven body-based healing modalities

How Often We’ll Be Together

New episodes drop every two weeks.  Each episode will be approximately 30-45 minutes. This makes it perfect for your morning routine, evening wind-down, or whenever you need somatic support. We’ll also release bonus mini-episodes with quick nervous system regulation techniques and guided body-based practices.
